Update - Sutton Road St Helens. Merseyside Police can confirm that a 61-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman from the Sutton area of St Helens who were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the manufacture of drugs have both been bailed pending further inquiries. PREVIOUS NEWS RELEASE. Merseyside Police has reopened the roads in the Sutton Road area of St Helens following an examination of chemicals found at a property on Sutton Road. Following an onsite analysis of the chemicals by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service the police can now confirm that there is no danger to the public and residents are safe to reopen their doors and windows. The property itself has been retained as a crime scene whilst the police investigation continues. Original release. Merseyside Police is warning residents in the Sutton Road area of St Helens to keep their doors and windows closed after officers found large quantities of chemicals at a property on Sutton Road. Officers executed a drugs warrant at the house last night at about 7.30pm and arrested a man, aged 61 years, and a woman, aged 39 years, on suspicion of being involved in the manufacture of drugs. The property was kept overnight for a search today and during the search officers uncovered a large quantity of chemicals both in the house and in the rear garden. Mersey Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at the scene to examine the chemicals and determine if there is any risk.
